The decisions of being

The decisions of being (2018)

Janet Frame in her poem “I’m invisible” talks about her difficulty to find a definition of her own identity and the sense of loneliness to which this personal research often leads.

This work is inspired by some reflections made on the theme of the search for identity.

I observed how it often happens that we wonder about our true nature, looking for a clearer and more defined identity. We ask ourselves who we are, what our true desires are, and how much our choices belong to us.

The whole process takes place within lonely moments, empty spaces where loneliness and uncertainty reign.

I found this old abandoned building, where nature had slowly re-appropriated its space, imagining a woman who, while experiencing that uninhabited place, is in search of herself.

The decision is not who I am, but if I am, if I can define myself in some way or remain in the indefinite and emptiness. In this series of shots, I describe those moments of confusion and uncertainty that accompany the personal research of each of us.
